Ten Tors Challenge Completed by Teign School Students
Students from Teign School successfully completed the Ten Tors challenge over the weekend. The two teams from Teign, successfully completed the 35 mile walk across the unforgiving terrain of Dartmoor. Both teams arrived over the finishing line tired but elated having pushed themselves to the limits of their endurance.
The students trained exceptionally hard over the past six months, at times walking through wind, rain and snow in order to prepare for this massive event. Their fantastic team of coaches worked really hard to support the students throughout the challenge.
One of the teams, a group of Year 10 students, aimed to beat the Teign School record by completing the 35 mile challenge before 9.30am and comfortably smashed this record by arriving back at 8.50am. They managed to come second in the overall competition..a fantastic achievement!
The other team was also superb in their efforts to assist, support and cooperate with each other to get to the finish line. They very much lived up to the spirit of the endeavour, including when one of their team mates was struggling and feeling ill they stopped to let them rest and re-hydrate before assisting them by carrying some equipment to alleviate the burden – wonderful team work in order to successfully complete this incredible challenge.
Well done to all those Teign School students who took part.
