Coombeshead Academy Expressive Art Students Spread the Christmas Cheer!
On Friday 14th December BTEC Performing Arts students at Coombeshead Academy and the Academy Wind Quartet were asked to perform Christmas Music at the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital, Mapleton Community Care Centre and at Somerforde Residential Care Home.
The day began with a visit to the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital where students sang various Christmas songs and carols to patients. This was followed by the Coombeshead Academy Wind Quartet performing carols, which all the patients thoroughly enjoyed.
The Coombeshead students later performed at the Mapleton Community Care Centre and at Somerforde Residential Care, which was greatly appreciated by all the residents.
Head of Expressive Arts, Andy Tyner said ‘to see the joy that the students brought to the people they performed to, was very moving. The students were extremely grateful for the opportunity and understood the value they brought to others. They were a real credit to Coombeshead Academy and themselves.’
The Expressive Arts Department would like to thank all the students who attended and performed at the event.
